What We Believe
Jesus is Lord: We believe Jesus is God in our flesh. We believe He has been given all authority in heaven and on earth by His Father, and so we seek to learn from Him, and do what He says.
The Sufficiency of Scripture: We believe that the Bible is God’s Written Word and the purpose of the Written Word is to bring us into relationship with the Word made flesh, and so, we come to the Scriptures, expecting to be confronted, challenged, enlightened, and transformed, and to live our lives in sync with what God says.
The Priesthood of All Believers: We believe that every person has been created in the image of God, and in Christ, each one of us has been given access to the Father. In this sense, every believer is a priest, male and female, we don’t need to go through someone else in order to get to Jesus.
Mission and Evangelism: We believe it is Jesus’ mission in the world to make disciples of all people and the way we see Him doing this is through words and deeds. We take a holistic approach to mission and evangelism. We seek to share the Gospel, while at the same time promoting justice, social welfare, healing, education and peace in the world.
A Believer’s Church: We believe that Jesus chooses to form his church by bringing together believers for the purpose of worship, witness, fellowship and ministry. We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only two ordinances given to us by Jesus.
Church Autonomy and Association: We believe that as a local church, Jesus is with us, and we have the ability and the freedom to make choices concerning our life together, but we also recognize that we are part of a universal church, and so we voluntarily choose to associate ourselves with other larger groups.
Freedom and Equality: We believe that faith cannot be coerced or predetermined by someone else. Because each person has been created in the image of God, each person must be treated with equal respect and dignity, and so we must allow each person the freedom to choose what they believe without judging them for it.
